Mwen kontan we ou papa ansien papa m. Frantz Brillant - Sunday, July 23rd, 2006 Dear Bonga and musicians: Thank you for a nice treat at NJPAC's Sounds of the City 2006 on Thursday, July 20, 2006. I, along with several hundreds of Haitians, would like to congratulate you, your musicians, singers, and dancers for an excellent performance. This Caribbean Festival brought together all the French, English, and Spanish people of the Caribbean under one roof a the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark. We are very proud and we wish you much luck in your musical career. Kenbe fem, pa lage. Fanfan Paul Wilson - Wednesday, May 17th, 2006 Bonga, HI! I've been trying to contact you about a booking. We are having a benifit concert for our school. We would like for you to be involved! Please call me at 646-234-2623. Thank you, I hope you are well. Paul Wilson - Friday, March 24th, 2006 Hi Bonga! Nice job with the kids today in Pelham-Hutchinson School! It's me Suzzette. I took some photo's today for the photo collage enrichment class I teach at the Hutchinson school. I also took some images for a local newspaper I freelance with. However, I had a lot of restrictions as to where I could take the photo's, so I am not sure I got any frontal shots or interesting angles that would meet the standards for publication. Regardless, I will share them with the class and you through email. Please let me know where I could send a few of the photo's taken too..email address. Perhaps if you play out or go to a Blues jam in Manhattan or Westchester, I could take some better photo's. Where do you play out? Do you know about the open jams in Westchester and Manhattan? Do you go to any? I know a lot about the music scene. I love to take photo's of preformers and bands etc... Suzzette Joelle Joseph - Friday, March 17th, 2006 Greetings, I am a Haitian student over at the Ohio State University in Columbus OH.I am a double major in International Business and Theatre. I am currently writing a dissertation on Haiti for distinction in theatre, In support of my thesis I will be producing a one-woman show this spring. I have been looking on-line for music CDs of Haitian rythm (pure drums: tanbou selman) such as yanvalou, raboday, rara, ibo, petro, maï, kongo, Banda...I would prefer to have only instrumental CDs with pure drums or wind instruments, something that sounds very organic and natural(no electronic sounds)Perhaps you can help me and direct me to some other reference. Thank you very much, Best Regards, Joelle. sokoko - Wednesday, February 8th, 2006 koman ye bonga ? mwen remen'w ampil, tabou ak Mbira didjeridoo sesanet, toujou marie yo ansam mwen sa. Sokok K. Bohannon - Thursday, January 5th, 2006 BONGA: THIS IS THE NOTE I SENT TO OUR SPONSORS. THANKS FOR TODAY'S CLASS. IT WAS GREAT!! I want to report that tonight's class with Bonga was exceptional! Having been led down a long, winding road of sounds from around the world throughout the ages, we have reached a point where all the sounds come together in our lives, in our time. Houston has been training us in chorale techniques and improv rhythms, but in his absence we had a guest who practices/preaches Haitian rhythms -- drums, dance, vocal response. Bonga was a wonderful, talented, passionate spokesman for the combined American/Caribbean experience of sound and movement. He was great and he had us all playing percussion and vocalizing along with him. Ask the kids about their reponses. I think it was a rare experience. Zanne and Izzy - Monday, October 3rd, 2005 Bonga!
